Seattle Chiropractor : Dr. Winfield Hobbs

I Didn’t Grow Up Going to a Chiropractor

“I didn’t grow up going to a chiropractor, so when I was deciding what to do with my life, I had to trust my gut. I knew Chiropractic was “hands on”, was the second most utilized form of heath care in the US and was more conservative than drugs and surgery. I took the plunge and am glad I did!”

I Have Treated Thousands of People

“Over the last 27 years, I have treated thousands of people, including over 1000 that were injured in collisions and work related accidents. I have been privileged to treat people from as old as 99 to infants as young as two weeks new to this world. MD’s, ND’s (naturopaths), attorneys and other chiropractors have also come to me for relief.”

Chiropractic Education

Dr. Hobbs has an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He did pre-chiropractic studies at Middlesex County College in New Jersey. Then, he moved across the country to attend Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, OR. During his four years at WSCC, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the WSCC Outpatient Clinic. Realizing how much he loved the Pacific Northwest, he moved to Seattle to establish his practice.

I Understand the Apprehension, Concerns & Questions You May Have

“When I finally went to see what Chiropractic was all about, I unknowingly chose a doctor who had gotten into the profession because of his yoga practice. (Prior to that visit, I had been teaching yoga in New York City.) When he told me he had attended school in Portland, I knew I’d met the right doctor. Since this treatment was new to me as an adult, I completely understand the apprehension, concerns and questions someone new to this treatment may bring. I always spend time explaining everything in advance; sharing what I know so each person can make their own choice.”

Chiropractic Orthopedist

Dr. Hobbs spent an additional three years of education and has attained a post-doctorate degree as a Chiropractic Orthopedist. “Chiropractic Orthopedics” is a separate and distinct specialty within the scope of practice of chiropractic. Chiropractic Orthopedists use non-surgical techniques to prevent and correct deformity, to preserve and improve the interaction of bones, muscles, joints and nerves when the body’s function is threatened or impaired by defects, lesions or disease.

Doctors of chiropractic must successfully complete an additional 360 hours of education in the prescribed courses in postgraduate chiropractic orthopedics, presented by an approved chiropractic college. Then, the doctor must pass rigorous written, oral and practical examinations to be allowed to use the term “Chiropractic Orthopedist”.

Preferred Provider For Most Insurance Companies

Dr. Hobbs is a preferred provider for most insurance companies, including Regence, Premera, Aetna PPO, United Healthcare, Great West, PacificCare, First Choice-including Group Health Options and others. Medicare patients are welcome.

Dr. Hobbs is an approved Chiropractic Consultant for the Washington Department of Labor & Industries. He has completed numerous “2nd Opinion” examinations.

Outside of the Office

Outside of the office, Dr. Hobbs is involved in many activities, most of them of an artistic nature. In partner dancing, he has taught and performed Lindy Hop, the “grandparent” of all swing dances since 1992. He is also passionate about the Argentine Tango. He plays the ukulele in the Hawaiian band “Na Hila Hila Boys”. He is fortunate to “play” on stages once or twice a year as an actor. He’d love to be able to take a drawing or painting class at least once or twice a week; there are only so many hours for each of us per day!
